Extra Examinations

Bronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage revealed fat droplets with a high number of lipid-laden macrophages. Additional interrogation of the patient revealed a history of chronic intake of paraffin for constipation.

Final diagnosis

Lipoid pneumonia caused by aspiration of paraffin oil.
