13.3 Guided Tour through Gloor/Dynes Hypertext Engine

After double-clicking on the hypertext stack, users are brought to the first text card (figure I.73)

To create a personal file, users have to select the command "Personal File..." of the menu "Utilities" which brings up the personal file dialog box (figure I.74). Clicking the "Create..." button creates a new personal file. Without a personal file, personal bookmarks and links will not be saved, and it is impossible to create node annotations and a global log book entry.

If users wish to create a bookmark, they have to click the -button on the left navigation panel. This brings up the "Book Marks" dialog (figure I.75), where a new entry can be created using the "Make Mark..." button. After being prompted for an annotation, a new entry is inserted into the list.

By calling the Book Marks dialog from any other node, selecting an entry, and clicking the "Visit Node" button, the user can return to the marked node.

New links can be created similarly using the -"edit links"-button. On the links selection dialog (top of figure I.76), the "Create Link..."-button has to be clicked first.

A "Create Link" window (bottom of figure I.76) is then opened and stays open while users can select the destination node using, for example, the navigation diamond. Once the button "Mark Link Destination" has been clicked, a new link is generated between the destination node and the node where the "create link..." button has been clicked.

Additional features for hierarchical navigation will be explained in the next chapter.
