Chapter 4
Continuous Wavelet Transform
The continuous wavelet transform (CWT) as well as the continuous Gabor transform (CGT) (also known as the short time Fourier transform) are presented in this chapter. The CWT of a one dimensional function is defined in this section and some of its fundamental properties are discussed. The CWT is specified with respect to an auxiliary function g known as the analyzing wavelet. The analyzing wavelet is a function which must satisfy an admissibility condition but which is otherwise open to design.
