Call for PapersJIT'99 - Java-Informations-Tage 1999Düsseldorf, 20. 9. - 21. 9. 1999With the development of Java not only an object-oriented programming language came into being but also a complete technology of distributed systems. Already Java dominates the contents of specialist journals. Many important research qüstions and animated controversies have arisen in connection with Java which will play an important role in the years to come. The Java Information Days (JIT) aim to provide a basis for sophisticated discussion amongst those information scientists who use Java technology, develop it or want to learn more about the latest developments. Java is one of the "hottest" topics in the high gloss brochures of manufacturers. That is why a realistic judgement of the situation is of great importance to the developer. Being independent of manufacturers, the JIT meetings will deal with these qüstions and report on the use of the technology. The main emphasis will be on a professional, objective, critical and factual assessment of Java. The JIT takes place at the same time and location as the German Java Developer Conference (DJEK) below the mutual roof of JavaDays '99. There will be many opportunities for participants in JIT '99, as they will have unlimited access to DJEK, and vice versa. Already 1998 the concept of two conferences below one roof, the scientific JIT and the commercial DJEK in the mutual frame of JavaDays, was very successful: The JavaDays '98 in Frankfurt attracted more than 1000 participants the response was very favourable. The JavaDays '99 will keep this structure and in addition will offer the participants more presentations and more space... Main topics:
