About Design Patterns

The Developer Connection CD contains portions of the Design Patterns book.
You can read the book directly from the CD or install it on your hard drive.
To install Design Patterns on your hard drive, use the Developer Connection
installation procedure.
If you have access to the World Wide Web, you can can use the Design Pattern
Builder to generate customized code based on the patterns described in the
book. To enable code generation:
- Install Design Patterns using the Developer Connection installation
procedure.
- Find the "Design Patterns" folder on your desktop.
- Open the "Add Code Generation Links" program. This program will add
hypertext links to the Design Pattern Builder on an IBM WWW server.
Note:
- You need about 1.8MB of free disk space to install the Design Pattern Builder.
- You must disable WebExplorer's caching feature for the Design Pattern Builder to work correctly. To disable WebExplorer caching:
- Choose "Caching" from WebExplorer's "Configure" menu.
- Enable the "Disable all caching" checkbox.
- Press "OK".
- After installation you can use the "Interactive Q&A" links to find help
on all aspects of Design Patterns usage.
