@3 help accession
 Every bibliographic entry in the MGDLIT file has its own logical
 accession number, which is specific for the MOGADOC database.

@4 help content
 The MGDLIT File contains bibliographic data, among them keywords
 (controlled hierarchical vocabulary), which characterize the con-
 tent of the documents quoted.

 For more detailed information on file structure, enter 'HELP DFIELDS'
 or 'HELP SFIELDS' at an arrow prompt (=>).

@5 help crossover

 The term 'file crossover' refers to the use of an answer set created
 by a search in one file as a search term or profile in another file.
 Typically, a file crossover search uses accession numbers for one file as
 search term in another file.

 You may use a MGDLIT File answer set containing MOGADOC specific
 compound numbers as search terms or profile in the MGDCOM File.
 Saved answer sets must be ACTIVATEd in the MGDLIT File before they
 can be used as search terms or profile in the MGDCOM File.

 The searchable fields in the MGDLIT file are listed below. If you
 do not specify a field, your term will be searched in the Basic
 Index, which contains Compound Numbers and single words from
 document titles.

 Search and display fields generally have the same 2-letter
 codes. For a list of display fields, enter 'HELP DFIELDS' at an
 arrow prompt (=>).

 The controlled terms /CT are forming a thesaurus of keywords with an
 hierarchical structure, which enables special retrieval features. For
 more explanations please apply 'HELP THESAURUS'.
@10 help format
 Search results in the MGDLIT File may be displayed by specifying
 the individual display fields you wish to see, one of the fixed
 combinations of fields listed below, or a combination of these.

 The following fixed combinations of fields can be requested.

 BIB --------- AN, plus Bibliographic Data
 IND --------- Index Data (Investigations)
 ALL --------- AN, BIB, and Index Data
 TRIAL ------- Title, Language, Index Data and Supplementary Terms
 HIT --------- only retrieved search fields

 To display a particular field or fields, enter the display field
 codes. For a list of the display field codes, enter 'HELP DFIELDS'
 at an arrow prompt (=>).  Examples of formats include: 'TI';
 'AN,TI,AU'; 'BIB,IND'; 'TI,IND'; 'AN,TI'.  The order of the terms
 in the formats is not important, but the information will be
 displayed in the same order as the format specification.

 All of the formats may be used with the DISPLAY ACC command to
 display the record for a specified accession number.
@11 help range

@12 help update
 It is planned to update the database every year.

@13 help (L)
 The link operator (L) is used to specify two terms which must occur in
 the same display field. However they may be stored in different index
 files. In the case of the display field 'Investigations' (IN), which may
 form various subsets of information, molecular formulas (/MF) in Hill
 system, MOGADOC specific compound numbers (/BI) and keywords (/CT) are
 searchable in different search fields.

    Example: => SEARCH C O/MF (L) ION/CT

 This command searches for all entries, which contain the Hill formula CO
 and the controlled keyword 'Ion' in the same subset of investigation.

@14 help (s)
 The (S) operator cannot be used in the MGDLIT file.

@15 help (p)
 The (P) operator cannot be used in the MGDLIT file.

@THESAURUS
 The controlled terms /CT are forming a thesaurus of keywords with
 an hierarchical structure. They are stored as sequences of figures.
 However they are connected with the corresponding full text
 explanations by means of dictionaries.

 The thesaurus enables to obtain broader, narrower, related terms
 etc. without having to look them up in the printed version (Chapter 8
 of MOGADOC Manual). The thesaurus features may be used by means of
 the SEARCH or EXPAND commands. The valid relationship codes can be
 looked up by

    HELP RCODE

@RCODE
 The following file-specific relationship codes may be used:

 Relation-   Description
 ship code
 _________________________________________________

    ALL      all associated terms
    AUTO     automatic relationship
    BT       broader terms
    HIE all broader and narrower terms
    NT       narrower terms
    STD      all broader, narrower, and
             related terms
    UF       "forbidden" term (used for)
    USE      preferred term

 The keywords are only stored as acronyms (preferred
 retrievals. For example:

             => SEARCH MW/CT (preferred term USE)

 Moreover the number of desired hierarchical levels can be specified.

    Example: => SEARCH DIST+NT2/CT

 The relationship code NT2 means that the narrower terms of the next
 two hierarchical levels (here distances in general and more specifically
 distances in different models) are included.

 After applying SET RELATION ON the narrower terms are auto-
 matically searched together with the specified controlled term. With
 SET RELATION OFF the automatic consideration of narrower terms may
 be switched off again.
