comp Checks whether an object has a specific component or not. If the first argument is a string, the object with the specified name is regarded as a list object.

edit edit opens a editor window with the respective matrix.

editmac editmac starts an editor to view or change a definition of quantlets.

endp denotes the end of the currently defined procedure

exec Executes the given string as if it was entered in the command line.
execfile execfile executes all commands contained in the specified file. Files are only seeked in the current directory. If necessary the suffix '.xpl' is appended. If both versions, i.e. with and without suffix, are available the file with suffix will be processed.
exist exist tries to find if the input object exists or not. If the object exists, exist gives the typ of the object.

existglobal existglobal checks existence of a global variable

free free removes global objects. It is convenient to delete big objects which consume a lot of memory. If free is invoked without arguments all objects are deleted.

getenv getenv reads the content of an environment variables set by the program or by the ini-file.
getglobal getglobal reads a global variable

logfile If a command was typed in the command line of the input window and <Enter> was pressed then the command is written to the logfile.
proc defines a procedure

putglobal putglobal generates a global variable

setenv setenv sets one of the environment variables (xpl4home, xpl4data, xpl4help, xpl4prog, xpl4backup, format, stringformat, browser, outheadline, outlayerline, outlineno)
