Rendered data: Embedded Pathways This figure shows a number of thalamic projection cells with dendritic arbors in the thalamus (see also Figure 7), sending their axons through the thalamic radiations and into the cerebral cortex. Each cell is given a different hue. The axonal tracks run to the upper right, past the voxels containing the Hippocampus and ventricular choroid plexus (bright region at top-left), but in a plane tilted towards the viewer. The bottom panel shows the fiber paths taken by cells projecting from the cortex back to VB (in this simulation no attempt was made to give their dendrites "pyramidal" form).
