Simulated data: Thalamocortical Pathway This figure shows the same simulated thalamocortical pathway data, represented in ArborVitae using geometrical primitives rather than voxels. The ventrobasal complex is at the lower left. Some of the cells have elaborated dendrites and have sent axons running obliquely up to the cerebral cortex (upper right). As a simplification, the cortex consists of a reduced number of layers, one of which has target cells that likewise have elaborated some dendrites. The TCA's meet these cells and arborize, predominantly along the closest among the band of cells in the layer. Each cell is given a separate hue.
