A color coded map of the cytoarchitectonic areas (Von Economo classification) of the postnatal human cerebral cortex studied by Conel. Conel studied 39 to 43 cytoarchitectonic areas depending upon the microscopic, neuroanatomic feature measured. The areas not studied by Conel are shown in black and white stripes. Note that Conel did study areas of the hippocampal formation, but it is not represented in color here.
