RGBA TIFF images
These images have 4-channels of 8-bits each:
red, green, blue, and alpha.
The alpha channel represents transparency.
This channel allows you to nicely composite the
image over an arbitrary background
(say, using Adobe Photoshop) while avoiding the
thin black lines around the edges of the image.
