The CD-ROM edition is the electronic version of 
the handbook. 

The CD-ROM is easy to use, but we give a bit 
of extra help here for the functions that are 
not available with a conventional book.

Please note: If you want to use all of the function 
of the CD-ROM, especially the search function, the 
additional search function (plugin) must be installed.


Installation

Insert CD-ROM into CD-ROM drive.
Install Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) Reader 5.0
with Search plugin for: 

Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME and Windows NT: 

1. Start the install-program
2. Click on the Install-button

If the user under Windows NT is not logged in 
as the administrator with adminstrator rights, 
it is possible that the command for the Acrobat 
Reader to be installed may be triggered  even if
version 5 of the Acrobat Reader is already installed.


Macintosh:

To install Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) Reader 5.0 
with Search plugin

Start the Acrobat_Reader_Installer in the 
directory Acrobat and follow the 
instructions. If you are using Mac OS 
version 8.6 or lower, please install Acrobat
Reader 4.05 from the subdirectory RE4.


Unix:
You can get further information and the latest 
version of Adobe Acrobat Reader at http://www.adobe.com


How to use the Handbook1. Start

The electronic book is read via the Adobe 
Acrobat Reader from the CD-ROM by click-
ing on 'Start.PDF'. From here you will be 
able to page through the book.

2. Search

If you click on the field 'Search' you will be 
able to search for particular words. Enter the 
words and click OK. A double click on an 
item in the resulting list loads the corre-
sponding contribution with the searched-for 
words highlighted.

3. Table of contents

When you click on 'Contents' you land on 
the table of contents. You can proceed di-
rectly to any contribution by clicking here.

4. Buttons

Alternatively you can page through the texts 
with the forward and the backward button.

5. Finish

Once you have finished reading an article you 
can click back to the table of contents button,
or search for another word with the search 
button, or end the program by closing the 
Acrobat Reader.
