The tortoise population is very patchy across the Fort Irwin landscape, even
though the density of juveniles increases over time.

Adult tortoise densities also increased over time, but in a patchy distribution
similar to the juvenile tortoises.

At the start of the simulation, in January, there are no eggs or hatchlings. When the breeding season starts eggs are laid and they grow into hatchlings. There is not a big influx of hatchlings into juveniles and adults because there is a hight mortality rate for hatchlings.
