Boundary test: BOUNDS

The SVP contains a family of boundary tests, intended to be used in the first experimental runs as means of obtaining a rough idea of the region of the parameter space where the outcome of a model will be feasible. The simple boundary test BOUNDS calculates the proportion of data lying inside the minimum and maximum value of the reference data as $\frac{N_{in}}{N_{tot}}$, and returns that as the score.

Since the BOUNDS test (and the related WBOUNDS test) only considers the range of the reference data, it does not necessarily need actual data to be performed; if a reasonable range is known, these values alone can be specified (with a REFERENCE READ instruction) directly in the definition file. If reference time series are available, the minimum and maximum values will be calculated.
