Meteorological data

Rainfall data are the same used by the SFWMM/NSM. The daily spatial time series of maps at the 2x2 mile grid scale are extracted from the "rain65_95.dat" file generated for use by the SFWMM/NSM. These data are applied directly to the ELM 1x1 km grid, without interpolation/filtering.

Other meteorological data are daily observations of:

    

• air temperature,  

• dew point temperature,  

• wind speed, and  

• cloud cover

at each of the following NOAA stations:

• Royal Palm Ranger Station,

• Miami Airport,

• Tamiami Trail,

• Fort Lauderdale,

• West Palm Beach Airport, and

• Belle Glade.

Those daily observations at the stations are interpolated (inverse distance weighted) across the landscape at runtime.
