ELM v2.1 is calibrated for hydrology and for surface water quality (Total Phosphorus). Subsequent versions
will finalize the calibration/validation of the other ecological variables simulated by the ELM.
(Please also see the recent manuscripts/documentation for analysis of the performance of current and past
versions of the model, including the book chapter
on the full-ecosystem performance of ELM in WCA-2A).
This Calibration (ELM v2.1) run encompasses the 1979-1995 time period during which there are sufficient, reasonably reliable data a) for model
boundary inputs, and b) for comparing field observations to model output.
This simulation period spans extremes in drought and flood conditions, along with a very wide range of external phosphorus loads to the system. The
Calibration run differs from the "Base" Project runs in that observed, "historical" inputs are used here,
as opposed to the assumed water management rules used in "Base" runs.
The "Point Location" set of Performance Measures provides the comparison of model data to observed data.
