Vertical solutions in the ELM "unit model"

Documentation of the equations that calculate the dynamics of ecological processes in the non-spatial, vertical, dimension. The code that is summarized here is that of the source file "UnitMod.c", referred to as the "unit" model of ELM.

An early beta version of this unit model was published as the General Ecosystem Model (GEM). An online version of that manuscript, and the OLD non-spatial executable (using Stella software) is available on the Publications section of our web site under (OLD code version!) General Ecosystem Model (OLD code version!). This GEM manuscript, while referring to an outdated code version, provides valuable overview material on the concepts and aproach used in ELM today.
