State Variables and Flows

The state variables and most of the vertical flows of mass in the ELM. Spatial, horizontal flows of water and nutrients among cells are not shown. Metabolic sinks are not indicated. The ELM has variable stoichiometry, with live and dead organic matter having separate state variables and flows for phosphorus (P) and for either carbon (C) or organic matter (OM).
