# User received a fax, give user basic instruction to create
# license.dat and sonnet.key file - PC
The Make License program uses the input you have
received from Sonnet Software, Inc. to install your
license. Since you have received your licensing
information via fax or paper, you need to follow
the instructions below to manually input that
information and create your license.

1. If in the header section of the "LICENSE FILE
CREATION INSTRUCTIONS," which you should have
received by fax or paper, REQUIRES LICENSE
MANAGER is "No", then you continue at Step 2.
If REQUIRES LICENSE MANAGER is "Yes", then if
the license manager is running, it needs to be
stopped. For instructions on how to do this, see
the section "Stopping the License Manager" in
Chapter 8 of the 8.0 Windows Installation
Manual. To access the online manuals, click on
the Online Manuals button on the Sonnet task
bar. On the page which appears, click on the
    "Installation and Administration" button.

Admin -> Command -> Window... from the Sonnet
taskbar menu. The Sonnet taskbar should already
be open. You started this program from the taskbar
    menu.

3. Then, at the prompt which appears, type:

       unlockem -u

Enter in your unlockem information from the
    "LICENSE FILE CREATION INSTRUCTIONS."

4. Select Admin -> Edit License File from the Sonnet
taskbar menu. Edit the license file, making the
changes described in the steps below.

5. Replace the license.dat with the content from the
    "LICENSE FILE CREATION INSTRUCTIONS."

6. Replace "HOSTNAME" with the host name of your
    server(s) (e.g. "galaxy").

7. Change SONNET_DIR to the sonnet directory (e.g.
"c:/sonnet"). If you wish, you may change the
"/" to "\", however either will work as a
directory delimiter. You need to use the short
path name for the directory name. If you do not
know how to get the short path name for the
    directory name, then see below.

The long pathnames may contain names longer than
    the conventional 8.3 (8 characters plus 3-character
    extension) short pathname limit. Windows95/98/NT
create a short filename for every long filename
exceeding the 8.3 limit. For example the directory
    "c:\program files\sonnet", may have a short
    directory name of "c:\progra~1\sonnet".

To determine the short directory name for Sonnet,
select Admin->FLEXlm License Manager from the
    Sonnet taskbar menu.

Select the "Setup" tab, and then select the
appropriate license from the Service Name drop
    list.

Look in the License File text entry box. The
Sonnet directory short name is all the
    characters up to "\licenses\license.dat". For
example, if the License File name is

       "c:\progra~1\sonnet\licenses\license.dat"

then the short path name for the Sonnet directory
    is

       "c:\progra~1\sonnet".

8. Save the file, then exit the editor.

9. If REQUIRES LICENSE MANAGER in the header section
of the "LICENSE FILE CREATION INSTRUCTIONS" is
"No", then you may skip this step. If REQUIRES
LICENSE MANAGER is "Yes", then start the license
manager. For instructions on how to do this, see
step 10 in Chapter 3 of the 8.0 Windows
Installation Manual. To access the online manuals,
click on the Online Manuals button on the Sonnet
task bar. On the page which appears, click on the
    "Installation and Administration" button.

10. This completes the creation of your license. Click on
the OK button to close this display.
