By inserting this CD in the CD/DVD drive of your computer, the
operational system reads the "AUTORUN.INF" file which starts a "shell"
process lounching the Acrobat Reader program and openning the file
named "CDcontents.pdf". From this file you have the access to all other
PDF files on this CD via the "links" (colored underlined text).

If your system does not open the Acrobat Reader by itself then
either the program was not properly installed on your computer, or the
AutoRun feature is disabled in you operating system. In the former case
reinstall the Acrobat Reader. In the latter case, you can enable the
autorun - see how at the end of this file - or simply open the Explorer,
click on the CD-ROM drive and when the list of PDF files appears, just
double-click on the file named "CDcontents.pdf".

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The content of this book was originally the subject of a short
course for a selected audience in spring 1988.

Since then, the text has been extended and revised, with the
errors corrected and figures redrawn, in perticular Part 2, where the
inductive peaking networks are analyzed.
Some parts have been updated to include the new developments
in the field, mainly Part 5, dealing with high-speed circuits.
Also, Part 6, where a number of computer algorithms have been
developed, and Part 7, containing some algorithm application examples
have been revised to conform with the syntax of the newer version of
the programming environment.

This text, prepared in 1998-2005 for electronic media, comes
in the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). The advantages of PDF
range from superb presentation, both on screen and in print, high data
compression and consequently small file size and the posibility to add
"links" (blue underlined text), which enable easy access to related
topics by simply pointing the "mouse" cursor on the link and clicking
the left "mouse" button. Returnig to previous reading position is done
by clicking the right "mouse" button and selecting 'Go Back' from the
pop-up menu. See the Acrobat Reader Help menu for further details.
There are also numerous "highlights" (green underlined text),
relating to the content within the same page.
The "cross-file links" (red underlined text) relate to the
content in other parts in different PDF files (with this demo, only a
few excerpts from several chapters are available for evaluation, thus
some of the links may not work). Internet and World-Wide-Web links
are in violet (dark magenta).

The text was written and edited using EXP, the Scientific
Word Processor, v.5, made by SimonL.Smith [http://www.expswp.com/].
All the numerical calculations, as well as the development of
numerical algorithms for circuit analysis and design, were made using
Matlab, the Language of Technical Computing, v.5 For Students, made
by The Mathworks, Inc., [http://www.mathworks.com/]. Also, most of
the figures were created in Matlab; before importing them into EXP,
the figures were converted and finalized using the Adobe Illustrator,
v.8, [http://www.adobe.com/].
All the circuit designs were independently checked, in both
frequency- and time-domain, by using Micro-CAP, the Microcomputer
Circuit Analysis Program, v.5, from Spectrum Software, see:

See the "license.pdf" file for the terms of use of this CD.

Enabling the Autorun feature is specific to each operational system.
In MS Windows this requires editing the appropriate "registry" key
by running "REGEDIT.EXE", finding the following key:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSetings\Services\Cdrom

and verify that both the "AutoRun" and "Start" REG_DWORDs have the
value 1 (or 0x0000001).

***********************************************************************
WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

Editing the registry is NOT RECOMMENDED for inexperienced users, since
one can accidentally alter other important computer settings, and some
changes can have truely catastrophic consequences!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
