George Bouckovalas

Diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (NTUA, 1978), M.Sc. (1980) and Ph.D. (1982) from the School of Civil Engineering of M.I.T.. Presently, Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at NTUA, specialized in Soil Dynamics and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering. Author of more than journal and conference papers on cyclic loading and liquefaction of soils, seismic performance of foundations and lifelines under adverse soil conditions (liquefiable soils, active fault crossings, landslides), as well as soil and topography effects on seismic ground motions. His current research focuses on the numerical simulation of the liquefaction performance of deep and shallow foundations, with the aid of fully coupled (effective stress, dynamic) numerical algorithms and elastoplastic constitutive models built upon Critical State theory.
